Vocabulary Word of the Week: Pejorist and Meliorist



Pejorist means: (real word)
one who thinks that the world is getting worse which is almost like being pessimistic.



Meliorist means: (real word)
the doctrine that the world tends to become better or may be made better by human effort which is almost like being optimistic.


These words are the opposite from each other.


Melijorist means: (made-up word)
a mixture of both Pejorist and Meliorist. If you think that the world is getting worse but you're also trying to make it better with human efforts.


Casey Mascorro: I am a Melijorist because I do believe that the world is polluted and people around the world are trying to fix it with human effort.
Socorro Torres: I am a Melijorist because I do believe that the Earth is getting worse and worse but I am trying to help it by walking to school instead of going in a car and by recycling.
